We've been overwhelmed with messages of support following media presenter Waleed Aly's commentary on Network Ten's The Project last night.
Waleed called for people to hijack the offensive social media campaign of misogynist Daryush Valizadeh by ignoring his online presence and sharing links to Lou's Place instead.
He said: "Specifically, click onto social media and share a link to Lou's Place - this is a women's refuge in Sydney.
"They actually do amazing work, and they receive no ongoing government funding. They rely on donations from people like you.
"...if you really can't stand this guy, click on your online banking, punch in your digits, and donate some money using the details on your screen. Let's hijack everything this guy stands for and click on something else."
Lou's Place CEO Deborah Banks said: "We were delighted by The Project's strategy which denies oxygen to such a destructive and self-obsessed entity and puts the focus back on women in need.
"It was way beyond our expectations to connect with so many people in such a short time. We greatly appreciate the messages of support and the spike in donations."
