Several of our clients have improved their mobility and experienced a decrease in pain from physical conditions thanks to treatment they've received at St Luke's Care, Potts Point.
Under a new partnership we've established with St Luke's we can refer clients to them for physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions.
We approached St Luke's after our Team Leader Melanie Joyce noticed an increase in the number of women over 50 presenting with their first experience of an osteo or rheumatoid arthritis episode. She saw the impact it was having with their ability to function.
Anne, 70, was walking with a limp after having a hip replacement. After going to sessions with a physio at St Luke's her limp is now less obvious and she no longer mentions any physical pain.
Nancy, in her 50s, has severe rheumatoid arthritis. She started with a physio and hydrotherapy session, and has an ongoing treatment plan for two sessions each week in the pool. She's already had a significant reduction in swelling and pain.
Stepping into the hydrotherapy pool for the first time was a very brave move for Nancy. At the beach, she would only walk in ankle-deep water. At the hydrotherapy session, she was immersed in water up to her shoulders for the first time. And now she's thinking about learning to swim!
