The support given to Lou's Place by Supervising Producer Tom Whitty and Presenter Waleed Aly on Network Ten's The Project in February was an incredible catalyst for us to connect with people around Australia and beyond.
When Waleed urged his audience to divert online attention from misogynist Roosh V by sharing internet and social media links to Lou's Place instead, thousands of people responded.
As well as many wonderful messages of support, we were overwhelmed to receive $56,000 in donations over the three nights of coverage.
We are grateful to The Project for advocating for women's issues and very pleased to have an increased awareness of the services we offer to women in crisis. The donations will go toward the ongoing costs of operating Lou's Place and help us continue to provide our services.
