Our outreach clinics bring specialist workers to Lou’s Place so women can get support in a familiar and welcoming environment.
We know it can be hard to travel between different services, repeat your story, or know where to start.
These clinics are designed to make support easier to access, with Lou’s Place workers available to help you find the right clinic, book a time where needed, and attend with you if you would like support.
Some clinics are available by appointment, and some may be available for drop-in support depending on the day.

Legal Support
Receive clear, respectful guidance to help you understand your options and take your next steps.
Every second Wednesday, 12:30pm–3:30pm
The Immigration Advice and Rights Centre provides free, confidential immigration and citizenship legal advice.
You may benefit from speaking with IARC if you:
- are unsure about your visa status
- are worried about what a visa sponsor or family member can do in relation to your visa
- have had a relationship end and are unsure what this means for your visa
- have had a visa refused or cancelled
- have received a letter from the Department of Home Affairs
Every Monday, 10:00am–12:00pm
Redfern Legal Centre provides free legal support on a range of issues.
They may be able to support with legal matters relating to:
- housing and tenancy
- child protection
- domestic and family violence
- police complaints
- family law
- money problems
- victims compensation
- bills and fines
- financial abuse
Please note that Redfern Legal Centre may not always have a solicitor present at the outreach clinic. At times, other staff, such as intake coordinators, may attend.
Redfern Legal Centre staff can help identify legal issues, provide initial support, and arrange follow-up appointments with specialist lawyers where appropriate. In some cases, a lawyer may be able to provide advice on the day, but the clinic is generally used to understand what legal support is needed and connect women with the right follow-up.
Every second Tuesday, 12:00pm–2:30pm
Inner City Legal Centre provides free legal advice, information and referrals.
They offer support across a range of legal issues, including specialist services for trans and gender diverse people, sex workers, and LGBTQIA+ people experiencing or escaping domestic and family violence.
They can provide:
- Free, one-off, legal advice appointments
information and referrals - specialist trans and gender diverse legal support
- specialist legal advice for gay, lesbian and bisexual people
- specialist legal advice and court support for LGBTIQ+ people experiencing domestic and familyviolence
- specialist legal support for sex workers
Please note that Inner City Legal Centre cannot provide advice on all legal matters. They are unable to assist with tenancy matters, immigration law, taxation law, commercial or business matters, conveyancing, Centrelink or social security matters, workers compensation, or neighbourhood disputes.
Wellbeing Support
Access caring, non-judgemental support for your wellbeing and the challenges you may be facing.
Every Monday, 1:00pm–3:30pm
The Salvation Army Foundations team visits Lou’s Place to provide alcohol and other drug support.
This clinic is for women who may want to talk about alcohol or drug use, even if it is not the main reason they came to Lou’s Place that day. Support is practical, non-judgemental and focused on where each woman is at.
The team can support with:
- alcohol and other drug education
- coping strategies
- relapse prevention and management
- harm reduction information and strategies
- assessment and referral to other services
Women can book a time to speak with the team or drop in for a chat if they are available.
Third Tuesday of the month, 11am-1pm
Services Australia provides outreach support at Lou’s Place for women experiencing complicated and challenging life circumstances that need help accessing Centrelink.
This service provides face-to-face support for women with their initial, complex crisis.
Support may include:
- help understanding Centrelink processes
- support with Centrelink issues or questions
- advocacy for women experiencing hardship
- help navigating complex circumstances
A Lou’s Place team member can attend with you if you would like support.
Health Clinics
Lou’s Place works with Sydney Local Health District and Leichhardt Women’s Community Health Centre to provide free hepatitis C testing and women’s health clinics.
Monthly on a Thursday, 9:30am–3:00pm
Free consultations with a Women’s Health Nurse.
The clinic can support with:
- cervical screening
- contraception advice
- pregnancy tests
- STI tests
- breast checks
- general health information
Every three months on a Thursday, 1:00pm–3:00pm
This clinic offers free hepatitis C testing in a safe, confidential space.
You may be able to access this clinic if you:
- are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- were born overseas
- currently inject drugs or have in the past
- are in prison or have been in prison
- are connected with community corrections, probation or parole
- attend drug and alcohol or mental health services
- are experiencing or have experienced homelessness
