DROP-IN CASE WORKER

Our Drop-In Case Worker can be accessed through the Drop-In Centre to provide the women at Lou’s Place with support through conducting a comprehensive assessment and connecting them to services and areas of support that best suits their individual needs.

This service aims to remove as many of the barriers that are often faced by women when trying find the right support, and subsequently simplifies and streamlines the assessment, referral, outreach & advocacy process in a safe and welcoming space.

ALWAYS MUM

Always Mum supports mothers and grandmothers who currently have children in Out of Home Care and are seeking to re-establish or improve their relationships with their children and/or are seeking support regarding restoration options.

This is achieved through our 10-week therapeutic psycho-educational group work program and includes:

7 Weeks – My Kids & Me – Parenting Education developed by CatholicCare.

  • The aim of this program is to give parents with children in OOHC an opportunity to reflect on their experiences, provide an opportunity for change, and learn strategies to strengthen their relationship with their children.

3 Weeks – Staying Safe for our Kids – Domestic & Family Violence Education.

  • This component aims to provide participants with education about the signs of domestic violence, building and maintaining healthy relationships, boundaries and parenting after experiencing trauma.

-  Legal education and confidential legal advice in partnership with Women’s Legal Service NSW

-  Therapeutic case management may be accessed by mothers and grandmothers who have completed a full term of Always Mum.

CONNECTING THROUGH CHANGE

Connecting Through Change is a 7-week educational and therapeutic group for women who have or are currently experiencing Domestic and Family Violence. The group is delivered from a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens and involves activities, group discussions, reflective exercises, and meditative tools.

Throughout the 7 weeks we explore the drivers of Domestic & Family Violence, its impact, and types of violence, while also placing focus on victim-survivors' strengths and resilience to help in their healing journey. The essence of this group is to connect with other women through shared experience, understand healthy vs unhealthy relationships, and connect with our inner self to form healthy coping mechanisms.

All of our domestic violence education and therapeutic groups are collaborative, experiential, and encourage reflection. This provides a space for women to explore their understanding of what they might be experiencing/have experienced, but also how they can tap into their strengths, resilience, and the tools they may already use, empowering them on their journey forward. The groups also provide new adaptive strategies, in a safe and therapeutic space.
